Field Trip Children's Museum

We had a wonderful time exploring the Children's Museum. Students had the chance to explore concepts involving science, emotion, art, and much much more. The students loved getting all of the hands experiences. I can truly say I enjoyed this field trip with this wonderful group of students. It was exciting, interesting, and just plain fun!!!

Here is a look at our field trip through pictures:

A special thanks to Mrs. Sullivan and Mrs. King for being wonderful volunteers!!!

Whale Bones

We are lucky enough to have been given the chance to study some real life whale bones. This fit in perfectly with our unit about amazing creatures.

The students made observations about the vertebrae. They compared and contrasted the whale vertebrae to a human vertebrae on our class skeleton Bart.

We learned about the importance of the rib cage. Look how giant the whale rib is!

Next, the students got a chance to guess how long 40 feet was.

Each group made a different guess with their partner by marking it out on the playground with chalk.

Then, we took turns measuring out 40 feet one at a time.

The final result was longer than anyone could have guessed! When students laid down in a straight line the whale was over 11 Kindergarteners long!!!
