School is out for the Summer!!!

To all of my parents, please use the summer practice guide over the next few months to keep your child's brain thinking! I hope that all of you received the folders that I sent home!

I sent three practice books home with all of the students!

A cute poem for the parents!

My small gift for all of the teachers!

With all of the things passed out the only thing left to do was clean up the room. For everyone who has been following my blog you are very aware of the amount of things to be packed up. After many hours the task was completed and my room was ready to sit empty through the summer.

At first I was so sad to look at this picture but then I just realized it is a blank canvas for next years theme. It looks like our school will be doing a school wide theme and my room will be taking on that theme as well. I am saying my farewells to the circus and already (yes it is my first day off of work and I am already planning) and hello to next years theme. I have already gotten a lot of the decorations and started creating for next year. Check back at the end of summer to see what the new room looks like. Also, please check over the summer for updates on activities I never got to post as well a the farewell video!!!!!

Goodbye Kindergarten!

Sadly all fun things must come to an end. It has been a wonderful school year. We celebrated our year by having "Red Carpet Awards" and a small graduation ceremony! I can not express how proud I am of every single one of these students!

Congratulations Kindergarten!

I loved how they were so proud of each other!

One thing is for sure, I will never forget this class!!!!

Get Out Get Moving!

At the end of the year our PTO and school organizes a field day. Outside there are many different stations set up by the parents for the students to go to. These activities help the kiddos work on hand and eye coordination, teamwork, and other athletic skill all while having fun. And oh boy did we have some fun!

Chilling with some popsicles

Sponge Race

Cooling down with some water!

Angry Birds were my Students' Favorite!

Such a hard but fun game! It was just like the frog game at a carnival.

Tug of War! Boys vs. Girls

The boys lost!

Our most talented hula hoop girl!

In the end we were very tired but had a wonderful day!

Authors & Yearbooks!

Today we were very fortunate to have a young author come and share his book with the kindergarten classes. Kyle Harper, a student at Yough Intermediate School recently published his own book.

This creative story really entertained the students and also showed them how they themselves are capable of anything. Kyle attended Mendon elementary only a few year ago! Congratulations Kyle and thank you for showing our little ones how possible it is do accomplish anything!

Also, here are a few pictures of our classroom signing yearbooks. We had a small yearbook signing party and it was the perfect way to get a little extra practice writing our first and last names!

Last Name Summer Kites

For this weeks art activity we made kites! Since summer is just around the corner this seemed like the perfect idea.

First, the students got the base of their kites. Each table was instructed to come up and pick out shapes. They had a challenge to put the shapes together on their kite with at least one side touching. Some of the students chose to make every side touch which was really a tough task. After they had their shapes glued down they trimmed any pieces that were hanging over.

Next, the students had to count out the letters in their last name and pick that many bows and circles. They glued the circles on to the bows and printed the letters of their last name on their. Last they put the letters in ordered and taped them to a kite tail (we used string).

They turned out very nice.
