My favorite part about the holidays is getting to teach Christmas around the World! Last week we got our suitcases ready, got our passports issues, and took off for the world!
First we made our suitcases. We used one giant manilla paper folded in half, colored a map of the world, and topped it off with two candy cane handles.
Next, we got our passport photos taken and put in our passport books. The students filled out their information including name, age, country, and school.
Finally it was time to board the train. Each student was questioned on their passport as we finally pulled into the train station in MEXICO!
White visiting Mexico we practiced our Spanish, listened to Feliz Navidad, and made our very own poinsettias. Our poinsettias were even 3D!!
We learned all about Germany and how children celebrate Christmas there. We made a Christmas countdown with an adorable Christmas Poem on the top. The kids really got a kick out of saying Merry Christmas in German.
Then we took a train down to Italy where we made trees decorated with all of our favorite things during the Christmas Holiday.
Off we jetted to the continent of Africa where we talked all about the holiday season. One of my favorite project were the candles.
Finally we made our way to Russia where we created Nesting Dolls. The students really liked this project and put a lot of time and effort into making all of their dolls perfect. We even took a quick look at some Russian ballets including the Nutcracker. They sure did get a kick out of that!
Finally, we arrived back home to the USA where we gathered our passport, suitcases, and all of our souvenirs and packed them for home.
Before we went home we had to celebrate our very own Christmas in room 104.
We enjoyed performing for all of the parents. Kindergarten put on an amazing performance singing like Chipmunks. We even had three little ones dressed up like Simon, Theodore, and Alvin!!!! All three of them did an amazing job. I still can not stop laughing at how adorable all of these kiddos were.
After the performance we had a small Christmas party in our room where we said goodbye to the elves. While we were gone they magically all appeared together under our behavior chart with a note saying all the children were good this year!!!
Then we exchanged gifts with one another. It was exciting for the students to watch their friends open their gifts.
I had a little surprise for my students. The students received a gift based on their own personal interests. What fun!! It is amazing the stuff you can find at a dollar store. I was lucky enough to have a lot of items donated to my class this year.
Then, we indulged in as much candy as we possibly could while playing Pin the Nose on Rudolph! Thank you to everyone who sent in delicious treat bags for our party!
Finally, it was time to depart and make our way home for the holiday! I want to thank everyone for the amazing year I have had so far and can not wait to continue after the break.
Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
